Vinstudion

There are restaurants you visit once, and then there are places that become a habit. For me, Vinstudion in Alingsås clearly belongs to the second category. It's located on Drottninggatan right in the centre of town, and it's one of those places I'm drawn back to time and time again, perhaps a little more often than I'd care to admit. That probably says everything about how much I love the place. The concept is a stripped-back, cosy wine bar with a clear focus on wine, but where the food really gets to take centre stage. This isn't about grand, showy main courses, but rather an abundance of genuinely good small plates that pair perfectly with a glass in hand. It's thoughtful, casual and yet of a high standard, exactly the kind of place where you can sit for a long time without feeling rushed. A little wine bar with a big heart, quite simply. The food is of a really good standard, and the small-plates format makes it easy to taste your way through the menu and share with your company. The wines are well chosen, and you can tell there's a genuine interest behind the selection. An extra plus is that there's always champagne by the glass, one of those little details that makes every visit a touch more festive. Being able to start the evening with a glass of bubbly without having to order a whole bottle is exactly the kind of thoughtfulness that elevates the whole experience, even if you might end up going for a bottle anyway. The atmosphere is warm and cosy, just as a good wine bar should be. The owner, Alice, is always just as charming and contributes a great deal to the feeling that you're welcome and well looked after. You can tell that someone cares, and the personal touch makes you feel at home right away. It's a place that works just as well for a quiet date night as for an evening with friends. Vinstudion is a cosy wine bar in Alingsås with good food, lovely wines and a host who makes the visit extra enjoyable. The focus on small plates and champagne by the glass makes it a place where you're happy to linger, and for my part it's become somewhere I return to time and time again. Warmly recommended.
