The concept is clearly rooted in Austrian cuisine, a tradition rich in home cooking, pastries, and dishes with both heartiness and finesse. You can tell they want to showcase a food culture that often ends up in the shadow of the French and Italian, and that gives the place an identity of its own. Here you get the feeling that someone truly cares about doing Austrian cuisine justice, which is exactly the kind of thoughtful concept I like.
Austrian cuisine isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you're looking for food in Gothenburg, and that's exactly why a visit to Kaiser felt extra exciting. The restaurant is located at Nordenskiöldsgatan 30, a little off the most well-trodden paths, and drew me in with the promise of a cuisine few others in town offer. I was simply in the mood for something other than the usual, and Kaiser captured my curiosity right away.

The food held a very high standard from start to finish. Everything tasted really good, and it was clear that the kitchen has a firm grasp of its flavors and its craft. An extra plus is that the food came out relatively quickly, which lets you lean back and enjoy without waiting unnecessarily. All in all, a dining experience that truly lived up to my expectations of high-quality Austrian cuisine.
The service was good and it really added to the overall impression. The fact that the food also came out quickly gave a pleasant rhythm to the whole visit. It's the kind of attentiveness in the interaction with guests that makes you feel at home and happy to return.
