Bar Trench is in Ebisu, in Shibuya, Tokyo. It's on the list of Asia's 50... 100 Best Bars (2026), which is a good reason to seek it out. There are very few seats, so getting in isn't guaranteed. I was lucky enough to get a spot, so I had time to try a couple of drinks. Bar Trench is a small cocktail bar in Ebisu, Tokyo. The space has a dark, European style and feels more like a classic bar than a place trying to impress with tricks. There are only a handful of seats, and the concept is simple: great drinks in a calm, thoughtful setting. Being ranked among Asia's 100 best bars says something about the standard, but the feeling is relaxed rather than pretentious. The drinks are the whole point here. I tried a couple and was very happy with all of them. They were well made, balanced and classic in the best way, with no one trying to be flashy just for the sake of it. You can tell there's a lot of craftsmanship behind them. A small room with few seats easily becomes intimate. With the dark decor, it's perfect for a quiet drink or two. Behind the bar they know what they're doing, which creates a safe, professional atmosphere where you can simply lean back and trust what arrives in the glass. Bar Trench is a really good bar for anyone who likes high-quality classic drinks in a dark, intimate setting. It's worth a detour if you're in Tokyo. My tip is to expect that it may be full, since there are so few seats. Be flexible with your timing, because a seat here is worth waiting for.
